Holding Hands

It all begins with a consult...

Appointments are structured to give you the chance to voice your concerns, have your questions answered, and for us to collaborate on a solution that suits your needs. An initial consult is 60 minutes, giving us ample time to meet these goals. In this time, we review your health history and dive deeper into other areas of your current health such as nutrition, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, energy, and menstrual history (if applicable). By the end of the appointment, we discuss options for treatment, set a baseline plan, and any further assessments, if needed.

The baseline plan may involve the following services below:

Therapeutic nutrition

We often hear the phrase, "you are what you eat". Therapeutic nutrition corrects and prevents nutritional deficiencies, but considers which foods have evidence for providing benefit in various conditions. Addressing your nutrition will often be the first action we take, setting the foundation for optimal health.

Botanical medicine

Medicinal herbs have been the source and inspiration of many pharmaceutical medications today. Rather than a single extract or ingredient, herbs have a number of phytochemicals that work synergistically to help modulate various physiologic processes in the body. Naturopathic doctors are extensively trained in the use and dosage indicated for your condition.

Lifestyle counselling

Guidance around current lifestyle parameters are foundational to bring the body back into balance. Valuable tools and practices may be recommended to encourage good movement, sleep, and stress management.

Acupuncture is a centuries old practice that helps to realign nervous and sensory systems. Acupuncture can be used as part of a comprehensive health plan from a rebalancing perspective or from a pain management perspective. Cupping or electrostimulation of needles may be used to enhance treatment impact. It can be an extremely relaxing and a valuable self-care tool.

Supplements

Naturopathic doctors are trained on the evidence behind common over-the-counter supplements. Knowing the research allows us to provide guidance around therapeutic dosing and timelines in order to provide relief to a chief concern. We are also trained in preventing interactions between medications and supplement recommendations.

Lab testing

"Testing rather than guessing" allows us to be more intentional with your treatment plan. As naturopathic doctors, we commonly use blood work for this purpose. If we need to dive deeper, we may also look at some more nuanced factors contributing to your physiology such as food sensitivity testing, hormonal analysis, immune markers, and more.
